Basic Terminology

Shared definitions used across every CCA partner integration.

Organizations & Partners

Organizations are the companies (or their divisions) that have a service agreement with CCA, either directly or through a partner. When an employee of an organization submits a service request, they become a Member. Organizations are set up by CCA as part of onboarding; partners are given the list of Organization IDs they have access to.

  • Each member is associated with an Organization when their profile is created.
  • An organization may have child organizations based on its corporate structure. For better reporting, member profiles should be created under the most specific child organization possible.

A Partner is an organization that integrates with CCA's APIs. A partner may manage multiple organizations (including parent and child organizations) within the platform, and can only see the data for the organizations it has been given access to.

The Data API refers to this same concept as an Integration Partner.

Members

Members are the employees (and their family members) who receive CCA benefits through their employer.

The Data API refers to this same concept as a Patient. It is the same underlying member — just a different name depending on which part of the platform you are looking at.

Clinical Providers

Providers (also referred to as Clinicians or Counselors) are the licensed clinicians available for members to book appointments with. They have their own profiles, including a photo, their name, license information, languages spoken, a short biography, and availability.

  • Domestic providers (United States) are matched to members by state license.
  • International providers are matched to members by country license.

Provider Matching

CCA connects members with clinicians in two ways. Both the White-label Members Portal and the Intake and Scheduling API support either path.

  • In-App Scheduling — Members browse provider bios/availability and choose their preferred appointment time.
  • Stand-Alone Intake — If the member cannot find availability, or prefers help choosing a clinician, they can still submit a request without a scheduled slot. CCA's provider services team finds a suitable provider, including clinicians not yet listed for online booking.
In-App Scheduling is currently available in the US only. Support for Europe, Latam, MENA, and APAC is planned for 2027. Field-level booking rules are documented in the Technical Terminology section.

The Intake and Scheduling API calls a Stand-Alone Intake submission an Intake: a request without a specific provider or slot.

Online submissions are appointment requests, not instant confirmed bookings. The request covers the member's first appointment; follow-up sessions are coordinated directly with the clinician.
